Paul E. Kinson


Paul E. Kinson, an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, joined Liscord, Ward & Roy, Inc. in 1988, bringing with him extensive actuarial experience in Personal Lines and the design of statistical reporting systems.

A graduate of Dartmouth College, Mr. Kinson served for a year in the Philadelphia office of Milliman & Robertson (actuarial consultants) followed by five years of actuarial service at the New Hampshire Insurance Group (a subsidiary of AIG).

Mr. Kinson served on the Casualty Actuarial Society's Committee on Management Data and Information from 1992 to 1994 and was a member of the American Academy of Actuaries' task force to develop an actuarial standard for complex models from 1997 to 2000.

At the New Hampshire Group, Mr. Kinson was responsible for providing ratemaking support for Private Passenger Automobile, Homeowners, Non-Standard Automobile, and Dwelling Fire. Further, Mr. Kinson developed quarterly analyses of profitability for both Personal Lines and Accident & Health Profit Centers; designed statistical reporting systems for use in personal lines ratemaking; and introduced improved ratemaking analysis systems and procedures.

As an independent consulting actuary, Mr. Kinson has worked extensively in:
  • ratemaking and reserving analyses for all lines of property and casualty insurance
  • reserving analyses for self-insureds and captive insurers
  • analysis of reinsurance and large deductible insurance proposals
  • development and enhancement of structural simulation models for use in excess Personal Injury Protection and excess Workers' Compensation coverages
  • design and implementation of statistical reporting systems, ratemaking analysis software packages, and strategic financial planning tools
  • reinsurance reserving applications

John C. Hanna Jr.


John C. Hanna Jr., a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society [2009] and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries [2007], joined Liscord, Ward & Roy, Inc. in 2009.

Mr. Hanna received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from The University of New Hampshire in 1998, and a Master of Science in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of New Hampshire in 2000.

From 2001 to 2006 Mr. Hanna worked at the actuarial consulting firm of Milliman, Inc. While there he:
  • Performed loss reserve analyses for alternative market companies such as self-insurers, captive insurers, and risk retention groups as well as multi-line property and casualty insurers and;
  • Assisted in the formation and ongoing operation of several alternative risk financing vehicles including self-insurers, captive insurers, and risk retention groups;
  • Performed/assisted in regulatory reserve reviews and Statements of Actuarial Opinion for insurance companies and captives located throughout the United States and Bermuda;
  • Reviewed captive and risk retention group applications for the insurance deparments of several states;
  • Reviewed rate filings for the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation's Division of Insurance and the New Hampshire Insurance Department.

From 2006 to 2009 Mr. Hanna worked at Liberty Mutual Agency Markets. While there he worked in both the Commercial Lines and Personal Lines departments performing rate reviews for various lines of business including workers compensation, general liability, commercial package, commercial automobile, commercial property, business owners, personal automobile, and homeowners. His work focused on the New England states, New York, and New Jersey.

Daniel A. Sullivan


Daniel A. Sullivan, Data Control Manager, joined Liscord, Ward & Roy, Inc. in 1992. Dan brings extensive programming experience as well as actuarial experience in Personal Lines (Personal Automobile, Non-Standard Automobile, Homeowners, and Dwelling Fire).

A 1987 graduate of Saint Anselm College, Mr. Sullivan was employed at the New Hampshire Insurance Group for five years as a personal lines actuarial specialist. While there, he was responsible for performing analyses of historical experience, including profitability and rate level adequacy; development of rate proposals for the consideration of underwriting management; and the submission of the actuarial components of rate filings.

Mr. Sullivan was responsible for the design and programming of a statistical ratemaking package to track and analyze claims. This series of programs modernized the analysis of historical experience; provided improved methods for checking data integrity and applying forecasting techniques; and provided detailed analytical exhibits in a timely fashion.

As a consultant, Mr. Sullivan has programmed actuarial analytical systems for Personal Automobile, Homeowners, and Dwelling. These PC based software packages provide a flexible interactive method to review the overall rate adequacy by state as well as indicated changes to territorial base rates, classification relativities, discounts, etc. Mr. Sullivan has programmed structural simulation models which emulate the medical services required by persons catastrophically injured in automobile accidents. Additional programming has involved modeling of aggregate excess loss distributions and statistical claim summaries.

Mr. Sullivan has completed the extensive Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer program. He complements this knowledge with advanced training in Visual Basic, Access Database, Crystal Reporting and Excel. These tools represent the most robust data management available, providing optimal flexibility and interactive user capabilities, serving to strengthen LWR's ability to quickly and efficiently work with client databases.

As Data Control Manager, Mr. Sullivan offers consulting services in the area of data integrity and verification. He continues to provide on-site forums in data control management and analysis, as well as claims system evaluation.

Trevor R. Taylor


Trevor R. Taylor, Actuarial Analyst, joined Liscord, Ward, & Roy, Inc. in 2016. Mr. Taylor brings experience in risk management and mathematical/statistical applications.

As an actuarial analyst, Mr. Taylor supports Funding and Loss Reserve Analyses for numerous self-insured municipalities, corporations and groups. In addition to assisting in exhibit preparation, he is involved with developing expanded interactive analytical tools to offer our clients a more robust analysis. He supplements data control management through his background in Microsoft SQL/Access/Excel and is also involved with the processing of client specific raw data importation and processing for printed exhibits, as well as linkable data exportation.

Mr. Taylor has experience creating data visualizations through Tableau, Adobe Illustrator, and RStudio. He has generated dynamic modeling tools to assess the historical accuracy of claim reserves, geographic projection of claim costs by state, and miscellaneous client specific database modeling. These platforms provide LWR with industry leading technical leverage that provides our clients with unparalleled analytical management tools.

In 2013 he graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics. While at Seattle Pacific Mr. Taylor was a Meritorious Winner in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling.

In his previous experience as a Research Analyst, he conducted various univariate and multivariate analyses such as: chi-square, ANOVA, linear regression, logistic regression, LDA, PCA, cluster analysis, etc.

Mr. Taylor is actively taking exams and pursuing his associateship through the Casualty Actuarial Society.
